which dvd writer

Hi guys

after my last year post (*www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12030&highlight=LG+4163) for brand new problem on LG 4163 DVD writer, this is my post to tell that dvd writer got permanently damged. Hardly bunred more than 20 cds in a year.

My LG dvd writer tray is not opening though its light is flashing. I got it checked, the service person says its card got damged so its not repairable now.

I am need of a dvd writer so which one to buy this time.

get a lite-on dvd writer and u should burn cd/dvd at regular intervals the drive should be used more often

many of the guys here have BenQ 1640 or 1650 .. including me

as u know sony is rebadged benq .. so there is nosense in sony

Ok I have LG DVD writer and hadnt used it much .. its a week old.. wud u guys want me to exchange it with a BenQ or LiteOn?? plz reply soon as I will be doing the exchange part tomorrow.

Well liteon is not available here in Lucknow. BenQ DW 1650 (retail version) is available for Rs. 2050/-. Hows about BenQ 1655 which have light scribing. though its not available in Lucknow, but I can manage it from Delhi.

When i bought .. 1655 wasnt avialable ..
1655 has lightscribe .. & its a sexy thing !! get it man
my 1650 is working fine, .. i would love to have lightscribe in my DW
Its nice to have ..printed one than written something in my bad writting

@djmykey: its DW 1655. Both Dw 1625 and 1655 both have light scribbing. I wonder if you could not find any link in google.

Two of service person refused to repair my LG 4163, one agreed to repair it for Rs. 650/-. I rather asked him to buy this old from me and he offered me 300/-. I bargained for a rebate of Rs. 500/- on a new benq DW 1650 purchase from him. I got it for Rs. 1550/- in exchange.

Happy to have new one with warrenty rather getting repaired one with a week warrenty. Since light scrib DW 1655 not available in Lucknow, had to compromised with DW 1650.

Its apparently better in performance than LG, but doesnt have DVD-RAM writing. Anyway I dont need DVD-RAM feature.

I wish myself happy burning hours.

LightScribe is just marketting bull****. It takes 30 minutes to write on the light scribe side, the media is *VERY* expensive, and on top of that, lightscribe fades after some time.. Worthless if you ask me!

i have a LITE-ON DVD writer and have been using it foe the past 6 minths without a problem.

i usually burn 4-5 DVDs per week.
