your processor is most likely bottlenecking the PC. Try overclocking the processor.

My HDD heats up to 45+ but faced absolutely no problem at all. you better check for bad sector. BTW what is HD6600? never heard of a desktop 6600.

Also update the game to latest version.

^^ that GPU is inbuilt in the mobo and those are not fast ... try and upgrade your GPU to atleast HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 or HD 7750

@rajatgod, thanks for reply

Radeon HD 6600 is not inbuilt card in mobo, i bought it for 4k from outside (1GB DDR3) and mobo has inbuilt Radeon HD4250........... i am planning to spend around 10k for graphic card next month if graphic card is the problem

i am also concerned about my hard disk *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/attachments/pc-components-configurations/6691-what-parts-need-upgraded-my-pc-playing-gta-4-2012-08-31_223002.jpg which is showing lot of bad sectors , do i need to purchase new one?

And do i need to upgrade my CPU also as sam suggested even if I upgrade graphic card?

Please advice

I can play NFS hot pursuit , GTA san andreas , NFS most wanted well...... but GTA4 is very laggy .... not playable .... so i am finding which part to upgrade whether CPU or Graphic card and i think my hard disk is also giving problem bcos i had to format it twice recently ...... any suggestions?

Most probably the Graphics card you're talking about is HD 6670 1 GB DDR3 version. Use GPU-Z to get the exact detail and post it here. CPU-Z only shows the series of the GPU, not the exact model.

GTA-IV is a very CPU intensive game and your CPU is a dual core one and not that powerful. So you need to upgrade the CPu for smoother playback. The motherboard of yours comes in three different Revision and if you're having the rev 1.5 one then you can use current Bulldozer processors on it. Get a FX-4100 @ 6.6K. Otherwise you have to look for a Phenom II X4 or Athlon II X3/X4 processor which are very rare now a days.
