It s full form is :High-definition Digital Video Disk
thus from the name you can think wht exactly it is. The new format expands DVD beyond standard definition video. Thus more video format in video DVDs and more storage capacity(I am not sure abt this.)

Then how is this possible?

Is H-DVD different from HD-DVD? I am sure it isn't actually.

I guess the original poster has an HD-DVD player without him knowing about it.

HD-DVD requires a special HD-DVD player and just any DVD player can't run it, right?

I think the "h" here in h-dvd stands for something else. Maybe home DVD.

I think they need special player too and they are in market too.
And they are priced insanely high. It's best to stick with standard-def DVDs for now.

You can always get them for free and play them on your computer. ;)

My first generation 17-inch MacBook Pro handles the highest defintion videos with aplomb. :D

MacBook Pro can play high-def files - yes, MacBook Pro can play HD-DVDs - NO!

Apple is a member of the blu-ray disk association, so Apple's not going to have a HD-DVD drive on their new Macs.

I never said it could.

Yeah, I know that. Microsoft supports HD-DVD. :)
