Right off the assembly line
I have installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 on VMware. I am getting the following problem when i try to start the Virtual machine

"Cannot open the disk 'C:\Users\HOshang varshNEY\Desktop\rhel4\Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
Reason: Insufficient permission to access file."

Please help me asap

where have you stored the .vmdk files? can you do a ls -l of that directory and with its contents and post it here?
are the vmdk files on the same machine or have you stored them somewhere in the LUN (storage box)

plz ensure you have rw permissions on all the files in the folder. trying doing a chmod 777 on the folder and its contents n chk

hey dude thnx for replying i got it solved ..... i put the files in C: and then i shifted them to another partition .... it was some permission problem ... its finally solved .... thanks again
