Virus Problem

Hi ,
iam getting this msg all of a sudden and my windows just shuts down ................. the msg is This system is shutting down.Please save all work in progress and log off.Any unsaved files will be lost.This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. and then a timer counts for 30 minutes and finally shuts down my system . Even my Antivirus is unable to detect anything ..Iam using Win XP.

This sounds like a case of the Blaster Worm. Which Anti-Virus are you using??

Try downloading the virus defs manually and run them in safe mode.. Then Perform a full system scan in Safe Mode. It should be able to detect the virus..

Plzz also install the HotFix Microsoft has given so the issue is permanently resolved.

check the startup of ur system if u find anything with extension of .bat just erase it. ==>>C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

u have not mentioned if use an antivirus or not, incase u do, update it and do a full scan and delet anything which is detected. Use anti-virus softwares like Kaspersky internet security 2006, avast pro 4.7, F-Secure Antivirus 2006.
Use good anti-spyware softwares like Ad-Aware Pro, Webroot Spy Sweeper.

it could be the lovesan or blaster or sasser virus.

first run your virus scan (avast) at boot time or safe mode using deep-scan modes.

then download and use the latest sasser removal tool and sasser fixer tool (microsoft/symantec).

then patch up your pc with KB835732 patch.

use zone alarm firewall, when on the net.
take windows updates or run the latest autopatcherxp..
