Video File Error

OK ..i downloaded a Vedio File(mpg) from the Net...but when ever i Open it in WMP it asks me for a username And Password ...now why do i need a Uname and pwd to Open the file......Moreover i dont remember from where i downloaded it.....also it does not Open in any other player...eg PowerDVD,Real player ..... the Size is Also Large Approx 120MB ......

Does any one Know how to open it or any other Method...plz hlp me out

How about converting it into some other format like *.wmv, *.avi, *.dat etc.....

If its DRM protected, as most new Windows Media files are, there isn't much you can do except get a license from the source by paying them, upon which they transfer the license to you, and once you install it, you will be able to view the video. Otherwise, no can do.

Well this is a Encrytption from the source side to view the file.....Btw i used to get Such requirement only when i had downloaded a Porn clip from some sites and that definetly needed online authentication in order to access the file Via a username and password provided by them on Subscription.....So well i guess if u have the Username and password from the Source u can very well access it....if not then screwed

Btw can i know what the file relates to or where exactly did ya download it from

well you guess it right its a Clip ...size is 120MB ..and i dont rem where i have d/l it from .....thats the biggest problem
BTW how to check if it has DRM protection..or sud i try to convert it in any other format ??

The surest way you can tell if a file is DRM protected or not is to open it in Windows Media Player 9/10. It will automatically prompt you for license/password details and offer to take you to a site that provides the license so you can buy it. You can also select File>Properties>License to see the DRM protection status. Also, you cannot do anything with the file while its protected, you cannot even transcode it to another format. The only option you're stuck with is actually paying for it.

Lol now u are in a jinx buddy....forget converting it into anyother format cause once the encryption is applied to it takes hell a lotta efforts to break it....btw my advice never download the clip from the official website but rather the best method of P2P networks as they rarely posses such encryptions
