use of iPod as hard disk with OS

I intend to buy an iPod. Besides music, can we partition the iPod and install OS like XP etc. and run it as it were a PC? Has anybody given any thought to this?

I also saw in this forum that we can get 80GB Passport drives for Rs.2500/-.
Now my question is the same for this type of external drive also?

i think we can use the Microsoft Zune as HDD but not the iPod...
