Use Laptop HDD with Desktop?

i know tht its possible to use internal HDD as external with those cases but is it possible in some way for me to connect my old Toshiba Satellites HDD to my Desktops on board SATA ports?if not atleast as portable?

buy an external case with sata port and connect that inside ur machine to make it internal... Sorry buddy that is only way i can think of...

i can connect the Laptop SATA HDD's to my desktop the usual way right?

and since i only use my Laptop as a backup PC i want to connect its HDD to my PC.that HDD consists of my laptops XP OS and the drivers.will it mess up my PC?
