I have old dos based software. It was running fine in my desktop with dotmatrix printer. But I had purchase new laptop in which there is no parallel port. I had installed laserprinter on usb port. Software works fine, but it dos'nt print to laser printer. Is there any way to redirect lpt1 port output to usb port.

'net use lpt1 \\server\printer /persistent:yes' allows you to map lpt1 port onto a shared network printer... In this case, if the Dot Matrix Printer named DMP is shared on desktop machine named Desk, the command would be 'net use lpt1 \\Desk\DMP' The persistent switch will enforce the mapping to occur even after reboot...

I had tried this command, but it gives and error, you cannot use it in the same PC, it should be from other remote PC of the network.

Goto the 'printer and faxes' folder. Right click and select sharing. In this check share this printer option and give a share name. Then you will be able to use the net use command as mentioned above
