Hi, I wanted to upgrade to the new 2.6.20 kernel (i needed 2.6 ver mainly coz i wanted to try Beryl)
This is how I did it:
#make menuconfig
#make dep
#make clean
#make
#make install
#make modules
#make modules_install
But the problem is when i choose the new kernel from LILO during boot time, nothing shows up on my screen, then there's nothing I can do but reboot, I think i've chosen the right options during "make menuconfig"
My OS is slackware 10.2, I use an Intel 845 chipset, I've configured LILO to use the VESA framebuffer 800x600 @ 256 colors, could this be the problem ?
Some of the options I've chosen during "make menuconfig" for graphic support are:
> Support for frame buffer devices
>VESA VGA graphics support
> Intel 830M/845G/852GM/855GM/865G/915G/945G support (EXPERIMENTAL)
> DDC/I2C for Intel framebuffer support
I don't properly remember which of these were default and which i specifically chose. Hope i've given the required info, this is the 1st time im compiling a kernel
Plz help!!
