the machine is Dead Slow..following are the problems i face daily :

2) Wont play 720p videos. staggers while playing youtube in full video mode.

So what should i do??

@ OP - check your mem module using memtest86+ app and HDD for bad sector using HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool.

@Op the reason you are not able to play 720p clips is that your onboard video card is not powerfull enough. Would recommend you to do a full system scan using a both virus. Or this free online one Free Online Virus Scan - Antivirus Software - Trend Micro USA

for playing Videos you can try Core Video Player

@ OP -

1.what browser you are using ?
2. Have you updated your flash player and DirectX runtime components ?
3. For playing 720P videos use KMPlayer - use performance mode - under video renderer settings - use Old Video Renderer.

BMG ftw!!
There is no use of partial upgrading your current PC. Socket 478 is wayyyyy too old to upgrade. Actually you don't have any scope of partial upgradation.
Buy a new PC.

^^ Only upgrade he can get is a AGP card ( if the mobo has slot for this ), 1GB ra,m and a 160GB HDD ;-) but these will cost him more than some high performing new components but if Op is serious about keeping his rig he can consider this.
