Recently got new motherboard of Gigabyte 8I845GVMRZ from LG in replace of intel 845GVSR in my old pc.( within warranty)
But problem is I am unable to format pc becoz after restart( kept bootable cd in cdrom) i am getting........

BOOT FROM CD _
PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD _ ,even after hitting any key its directing to old setup.

some setting in BIOS are as follows...

Advanced BIOS settings...

first boot device... ....cdrom
second boot device....HDD-0
third boot device.......floppy

Advanced CMOS settings...

IDE primary master ........HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA
IDE primary slave....... ...nothing
IDE secondary master ....ST340014A
IDE secondary slave ......none

XP cd is bootable which i m using since 1 yr so no problem regarding that .
dvd rom i have installed 6 months ago and working nicely.
Facing problem since installed new Gigabyte 8I845GVMRZ motherboard.

pls suggest me further steps to solve this problem...

buddy it is never advisable to have the HDD and the optical drive on the same IDE channel

wil severly impari the transfer speed of bothe the HDD and opti drive, esp the opt drive

Always keep them on seperate IDE channels :)

No matter about your hardware installation configuration. You should try this: -

1) First Format your hard disk drive in which you want to install winXP by Booting into your computer with Windows 98 Se Setup Disk or Partition your entire hard disk by using Seagate Disk Manager or any other partition software you have.

2) After completeing the format/partition operation, go through the setup installation of WinXP by setting the first boot priority to CD/DVD drive as usual you try in past.

I know that Windows 98 SE is out of market and is old, but you can download the Win98SE boot disk image to the website given below. After Downloading the file, you have to insert a blank floppy disk to write the image and then after you boot your computer by setting the first boot priority to floppy disk (if you have a floppy drive installed in your computer, otherwise use DOS based program to format the drive)

Link for Windows 98 SE image file: -
