I've been accessing SHOUTcast on winamp from sometime now.. But recently after having switched to Linux, I tried to hear it on VLC....I'm sure many of the users already know this... But its for those who don't.
1.) Fire up VLC Player
2.) Go to www.shoutcast.com
3.) Choose any stream you want, as per your choice of genre and bitrate.. be sure to
select AAC+ as its sound quality is far superior to MP3 streams.
4.) Tune into the stream with VLC.
OR
Open the stream in a new window by clicking Tune in and copy the url.
In VLC.. go to File ->Open Network Stream
In the Network tab, select HTTP and paste the copied url in the space.
Press ok and play the stream..
TIP :: With people on limited bandwidth like me.. Go for 32 bitrate AAC+ streams..there won't be any lags..... they offer quite good quality.
My personal favourite is FREQUENCE radio..
Welcome to the world of Internet Radio... Free music, good quality music all through the day.....
