After starting to assemble only did i find that intel 915GAV has only one IDE (primary). I want to use two optical drives and a HDD. So I went to Chennai again to change the 160GB Seagate and bought 160 GB SATA (Seagate). I downloaded the SATA driver from Intel and provided it with floppy which the setup accepted without any problem.

But when the stage comes when "Setup is starting windows" I get a blue screen with the Stop error. What could be the reason and why would not setup install.

I have created a primary partition for 20GB (FAT 32) using seagate's dm

Update: Solved: The fault was with the RAM module

Hey i too use two SATA 160 GB HDD on my system and needed no instalation of additional drivers for installing XP or fedora core 1/2/3 I use a old p4p800-vm mobo i dont think the additional drivers are needed try doing the installation straight is without the drivers and see. Also I did the partition and formatting using the win xp cd supplied utility (the one that comes while stting up win XP )

Sata drives are not required while installing WINXP .The conflict is probably due to combatibility issues , with the Intel drivers(u dld'ed) and with the windows generic drivers .
Normally if you are using RAID 0 or RAID 0+ 1 config using two similar sata HDD's , then you need the drivers for your RAID controller (for ex silicon image) NOT for the HDD , also .. if you are using WINXP only , its recomended that you use NTFS , better memory addressing facilities especially for larger HDD's.

In some config's RAID sets can also be made from the BIOS too .

Thanks for the info.

In fact, the problem was not with the mobo or the hdd, it was the faulty ram. Everything went smoothly after i put an older 256DDR in the place of the new 512MB DDR.
