transferring files from old to new

Are we there yet?
i am gonna buy a new laptop which will have a win7 home basic 64-bit installed, and right now i have a win vista home premium 32-bit laptop. I want to know that how can i transfer my files and folders from the old PC (vista HP 32-bit) to the new one (win7 HB 64-bit)?

I have been searching online and found that there is something like Windows Easy transfer wizard. And on M$ help center they say that Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. And so, i am confused now (from 32-bit to 64-bit).

Any help is appreciated. :)

Here's what I usually do for the above purpose

1. Connect both of the PCs with Ethernet Crossover Cable/Wi-Fi over router.
2. Create an FTP/HTTP Server with Everything.
3. Find the source computer's internal IP address (cmd -> ipconfig /all)
4. Enter that Internal IP address into a browser in the destination computer.
5. Navigate to the directory and download the files.
6. I recommend using IDM ("Download all links with IDM") to download more than 1 file.

Also you can try team viewer.
Easiest option go for ext HDD. since you say transferring from pc if you have two Pen drive 8 GB each with two slots you can use them.(limitation file >40 GB it will become cumbersome)

Thanks for the tip, but right now i am using Windows Easy Transfer, and its the easiest way to get things done. And since i have 123 gb of data to transfer, i prefered this way.. :)
