I have got Bitcomet for downloading files on my 266 kbps sify BB line but it downloads at very low speed. Other softwares do not suffer with such speed like my download manager gives speed from 30 kBps to 31kBps. I think zonealarm(free) is creating problems. But i remember when it asked for permissions I had allowed the bitcomet. Please help.I am facing the same problem with azureus

Is it a DAP or other download software you're talking about? Well, it is because its an HTTP download which is regular & depends on the host server.
For bitcomet, check out this link:
Config. Bitcomet for faster downloads
Savvy!

He nishant if you are facing the same problem with azureus then it simply means that either the torrent you are trying to downloaded is not being seeded fast enough or has less number of seeders and maybe due to misconfigurations. BitComet has some speed problems which you can rectify by visiting their forum. Try to look in the settings and enable port forwarding/NAT etc. You will find a lot of articles to improve your torrent download speed using particular client of your choice on net.
The link by yrana is also very helpful

its true even i have faced torrent speed problem because of ZA. i use winxp sp2 , azureus client.
so i have switched to using windows firewall instead.

as for slow speed like planetcall stated it depends on how many seeds your torrent has and how fast they are seeding.

my suggestion is instead of downloading on torrent at a time go for multiple torrent downloads simultaneously.

set your bitcomet to allow more tahn one transfer at a time.
this way even if each torrent gives you only 7-8kBps. by using multiple torrents you can use your full bandwidth(31kBps).

its working for me !

PS: always set high priority in your bitcomet to the torrent with maximum seeds and in that same order.
