ThinkCentre A30 (type 8434)

guys i have a ThinkCentre A30 (type 8434) but the first ram slot not working i check the specification on their site but i cant understand the ram spec, they said 2 DIMM sockets (1 open) . open means what i dont know , can guys explain me ,the link of the specification in mention below

^^ acc to the specs the mobo supports 2GB ram ( 1GB ram modules max in each slot ) - now the mobo has 2 ram slots and the pc came with one stick of DDR memory on a sigle ram slot - the second ram slot was kept empty so that the users can upgrade the amount of ram as per their needs.
