Hi ppl.Need ur help in configuring a system for under 50k excluding the video card and the sound card.I already have a XFX 7600GT xxx edition and a creative xfi music xtreme.
I will be using it mainly for gaming and music.
Thinking abt goin for a core 2 duo.So pls suggest which model and also a couple of motherboards.
Need atleast a 17inch FP lcd monitor.
Also which one is the best 2.1 speaker system out there?

What shud be the cabinet and smps rating i shud look for?

Please suggest all the components with prices next to them.

The below config cost Rs 54,875.00, If you are very strict to your Budget go for (Samsung 17" - 740n (Dualtone/Full Blk) Rs.10900) instead of the moniter mentioned below it will cost you Rs 50025. You can further reduce cost by going for some cheaper 2.1 speakers and cabin

Intel E6600 Conroe -( 2.4 GHz 1066MHz,4 MB,LGA) Rs.16300

Intel D965RY (965G,S,L,16xPCX) Rs.6800

Trans 1 GB DDR2 677 MHz RAM Rs.5600.00

Seagate 160GB - (SATA Baracuda / Puma 7200r) Rs.2975

Sony OEM DVD-Writer (16xD 16x, Dual Layer, 8.5GB) RS. 2150

Zebronics Cab & SMPS (460W Pure- Platinum Srs) Rs.1950

Samsung 19" - 940BW Wide Screen Rs.15600

Altec Lans ATP3 - 2.1 2.1 (HighQ - 60w RMS) Rs.2600

logitec KB & Mouse Rs.750

Since u hav a gfx card u may buy the MSI P965 Neo F which costs bout 6.6k.
If u can strech ur budget den go for the Asus P5B DLX,its the best u can get for C2D.

Config which Vasulic has suggested is pretty gud...but i'll like u to make few changes.
1-Get MSI P965 NEO as assasin suggested bcoz wen u hav an external gpu then then why to go for 965RY wid onboard grapix and wid less features compared to MSI P965 NEO=6.5k,IF U CAN FIND THEN GET-Gigabyte 965P S3 - 6-6.5K approx (this ones better ..check anandtech for the review of the same)
2-C2D E6400 is quite gud and can handle all the applications and games and will cost u arnd 11.5k,u can save arnd 4k here.
3-When u spending 50grands then better get a gud cabinet and psu.for Cabinet-Antec,Coolermaster,Vip,Zebronic.For PSU-Antec,Coolermaster,Powesafe(cheapest and quite reliable).
4-Go for 250GB SATA HDD,its for 4k..juz 1k more then 160GB.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys.So my config is something like this

E6400
MSI P965 Neo F
1Gb Transcend DDR2 667
250GB Seagate
Sony DVDrw

How abt the items below??

Dell 19" FP MRP 17.9k but cud possibly get it for arnd 14k as one of my friends works at dell.Is 8ms response time good enuff for gaming?

Also i want the best 2.1 speakers in terms of bass and clarity.
I was thinking abt Altec's MX5021 but heard that its bass is not comparable to Logitech Z2300.Any other speakers with gr8 bass.Wat do u recommend?

What is your budget for speakers?

Why do you believe in rumours? MX-5021 is the best 2.1 speakers within 10k. I have been using it since may 2005 (cost me 10.5k then) and I have no regrets.

If you want a little cheaper speakers, then you can buy Altec Lansing ATP-3.
