system boots but monitor showing nothing

mine friend just installed xp---but then he changed the screen resolution to a higher value---at that time the screen got blacked out with a hz written==then it became normal
from next time whenever he boots .comp boots but the screen remains black with hz written--anyway to decrease resolution -----there is no error in monitor--only resolution set to higher value---

start in safe mode by pressing F8 just after the POST screen ie before XP starts. Then change the values to what they were.

Press F8 during Start up and then on the diagnostic screen "ENABLE VGA MODE" your computer will start at 640*480 res. then change the resolution back to normal what you want it to be and then restart..

this problem occurs with LG monitors when u change there resolution to 1024x768 @ 85 HZ the monitor gives u a msg that frequency out of range the solution is only this that uninstall ur graphic driver boot in vga mode and then boot into normal mode change ur monitor frequency to 60HZ(display properties>settings>advanced>monitor and then install graphic driver again.

its already answered above and this problem occurs with almost all monitor when the display goes beyond supported not only with LG..:mad:
