The title says it. I want headphones under 3k, any brand. Want it purely for music (metal, rock, classical and blues). Will use it with my Nano for a few months before I get a iTouch.
Suggest me headphones under 3k

I want headphones with full ears. Not earphones or on-ear phones or in-ear or whatever. Normal full headphones. Wired. The wire must be of good quality.

Specific model numbers are more welcome. HD202 costs like 1.5k. Something better.
HD408 - 2.7K
HD418 - 3.2K
Both are Circumaural model with less than 0.1%THD and single sided cable
HD418 has only 1.5M cable whereas HD428 has 3M cable.
Though both comes with 3.5mm gold plated plug, HD428 comes with 6mm adaptor plug too.

Nice info!!Even I too was looking for a good pair of headphones coz my folks watch T.V in my room n T.V is rite next to my comp so it becomes real difficult watching movies or series using the crappy headphones(some iBall)!!I was thinking of posting such a query.Thanks for all suggestions!!
Both PX200 II and HD408 are not circumaural but supraural i.e., it will not cover the ear and will just rest on the ear. Advantage in PX200 II is, it has volume control in the cable. (In my earlier post i have told HD408 is circumaural, which is wrong)
I think PX200II is above your budget, as I found for around Rs.5000 online
I will suggest HD418 as it is circumaural and just 200 above your budget, which is online price in theitdepot.com. You may get for lesser price also.
