The FX-60 alone will cost more than 30k. Intel Core 2 Duo is out of the question in your budget.

I suggest you get:
Asus A8N-VM Rs. 3800
Athlon64 3500+ Rs. 5200
Transcend 1 GB DDR400 RAM Rs. 4500
Total Rs. 13,500

If you can increase your budget just a little get the Athlon64 X2 3800+ for Rs. 8500. It's far beter than the 3500+. Total cost with the X2 3800+ is Rs. 16,800.

I never said he can get a core 2 duo. He wanted a FX 60, I am just telling him that a 10k CPU of Intel > AMD's any CPU

Ya accordin to his budget the best combination would be:
AMD 3500+ : 5300/-
A8NE : 5300/-
1gb ;4500/-
-----------------------------------
forget FX 60 + mobo + 1GB within 15K.

but as far its under 15 k he can consider a card too. nd why go for A8nVM nd trade on perfomance for that crappy onboard graphics.

@boomstation2
Also give ur needs also.
If u on gamin then gor for that 3500+, A8NVM nd a 7300GS[3.5k] or GT[5.2k] along with 512mb mem. all these would cost u 5200+3800+3500+2300/-=14800/-.
A8NE would cost 5200~5400/- dependin according to ur location

nd if u r not on gamin then 3500+, A8NVM, 1Gb mem[5200+3800+4500=13500/-]. U can make that mem 512 mb.[sorry for the wrong price]

or if want dual core then,
AMD X2 3800+ 8200
A8NVM 3800
512DDR 2300
-------------------------
14300/-

The config you have given for gaming far exceeds his budget. He has already said he dosen't want a graphics card so why add it unnecessarily?
You have quoted the wrong price for RAM. 512 MB is about Rs. 2300 and 1 GB is about Rs. 4500.

WTF !!! did he actually look for the prices first ??

Anyway .. forget the FX60

AMD 3500+ : 5300/-
A8NE : 5300/-
1gb ;4500/-

Go for this one .. best budget AMD buy currently ..

Also .. the ram prices may be slightly higher ...

Thanks drvarunmehta..

I probably made a mistake that i write AMD Athlon 64Fx 60. Actually i don't know what is "FX 60". Actually i thought of AMD 64 3500+ Processor (..around 5K). Is AMD socket 939 good for future or shud i go for AM2.

Juny..Suggest me a good combo of ASUS and AMD Processor.

I did sort out few..after reading forums -
1. A8N-E
2. A8N-VM CSM/NBP
3. A8N-VM

if i go for 1st one its better, but i can't buy a graphic card in my budget. If necessary for better future i am ready to buy a graphic card but i really can't iincrease my budget by more than 1.5 - 2 K.
I am confused in these mobo selection.
Even pls let me know reagarding the RAM. shud it be DDR (400 or 533). (Kingston or Hynix.or Transcend.?)

Many of my friends asked me to enquire about the performance of this combination. some says its gotta heating problem, it slows down after lot of use.. all these things make me crazy.

AMD 939 mobo[preferably A8NE] with a gud ddr400 would beat even DDR2 667 normal in all benchmarks.
the best is to get
3500+: 5.2k
A8NE:5.3k
2x512 transcent or corsair or any gud one[not hynix, dynet] :5k
7300GS:3.5k.
u can reduce the ram to 2x256 as its exceeding 15k. u can later add another 2x512 in dual channel, so 256 nd 512 in both channel nd effective 1.5gb in dual channel.
so its 5.2+5.3+2.5+3.5=16.5k its the most better choice as the graphics would be almost 4 times or higher than the 6100 of A8NVM.

Core 2 Duo is out of budget. Are good AM2 mobo's readily available? If they cost about as much as the 939 mobo's then AM2 is a good buy.
If not get the A8N-VM. Use onboard graphics for the time being and add a graphics card whenever you can afford it.

Hi,
Thanks for all ur comments. i am pleased. I have started to sort out few combinations though few Q's r in my mind.
Give me the prices of following combo..and suggest me a better option.
Hope all these are available in MUMBAI

1. AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2 (Socket AM2) + ASUS M2N-VM DH + 1 GB DDR

2. AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2 (Socket AM2) + ASUS M2NPV-VM + 1 GB DDR

3. AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Socket 939) + ASUS A8N-E + 1 GB DDR + graphic card (..?)

4. AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Socket 939) + ASUS A8N-VM CSM + 1 GB DDR

Should i go for X2 processor or AM2 or 939. pls suggest few. I am not that much into Games..rarely play any. I want to be future ready.
Questions like...DDR2 or DDR ... AM2 or X2 or 939 creeps in my mind.
when i went thru AMD2 socket boards ..they can have DDR2 RAM.. is this what future will demand..?
The main thing is Mobo..which shud be very good.

Get a Athlon64 X2 3800+ AM2 processor, ASUS M2N-VM DH and 1 GB DDR2 RAM.

If this is crossing your budget, there is a X2 3600+ dual core processor too. I don't know if it's available in India but if you could get it it would be the best option.
