I have an MSI Neo(875) motherboard. I plan to upgrade to the latest series 9xx series from intel. Which one should i opt for? The intel original or good ol' MSI??

I have finally decided to get my hands on some ram. I heard that series 9xx supports 533 mhz fsb ram. How much will be adequate for me? I am a hardcore gamer and i settle for nothing less than smooth frame rates. very smooth...

make that the good ol' asus ..
tons of features .... better support in india ...
and generally a fav. of most forum members including mine :D

the 915 supports ddr upto 400 and ddr2 upto 600 mhz ...
for now i suggest u stick to ddr400 in dual channel mode ... reasons for ddr2 still not overtakin ddr are few but enuff ... and can be found easily by a google search ...
easily put ... ddr2 will not be better than ddr till ddr2 crosses the 600 makr ... ( 630 or somethign was it not blade ?? )

if u go in for the 925 series u have no option but to go for ddr2 ram cuz thats the only one supported

Yeah it was 667Mhz.........But the LGA775 platform sucks imo. If you are a gamer its better to go for a AMD64 system since its better than Intel based rigs in gaming.

what ever u do .....don't go for intel 925 motherboard ......as all the intel mobo sold in india(at least in chennai ) has been called back due to some bug ...so go for ASUS P5AD2 Premium ....and its going to be way too costly .......and there is no point going to 915 g/p since u already have 875 chipest board the performance boost is not very much ....one more thing is PCI-ex slot with 925x/915x u will have to get a new graphics card that supports PCI-ex ....and there are not many for gamer .....as of now in india .....and DDR2 has to evolve yet ..its just begining phase .....so performance boost is not much to DDR compared to 875 chipset ...........moreover i think ur system will survive for a year try considering upgrade than u will have lots of surprises/options then ........or if u want to upgrade right now ......go for AMD64 rig as blade suggested ! u won't regret !

Personally i am using a intel 915gav damn decent board...........plus gives you support for ddr 400mhz..................had it over a month and no problems till now........

for ram i have 512 400mhz kingston...........dual channel memory would be a better choice and what i hear what i have to do for my particular ram is to get a similar 512 stick and i will have dual chanel.........

There is a performance jump in 875 and 915 i own both but it will not be immediately obvious.

Between the 925 and the 915 there is not much of a performance jump...........but according to intel next generation softwares will show these ..............or so they say

useless!
no point upgrading till the 1066mhz bus CPU's come out!and those motherboards will hav support for faster ram and ur upgrade will be useless!
and the asus 925x chipset based mobo(P5AD2)pumps FSB on its own by about 2MHz.(its a cheat to gain extra performance).

and also ull hav to buy a new gfx card, ram etc!

the msi 875 neo is a solid mobo!!!no point of upgrading at all!
