So this is my story.
I want to build a gaming machine.
My budget for cpu+mobo is 11-12k max.
So i decided to go for phenom II X4 955 BE instead of i3 because of 4 cores.But then i saw that i3-2100 beats phenom II X4 almost in every test and specially in gaming.But i decided to stick with Phenom II 955 BE ,as it is a BE ,so easily overclock-able so it can reach 3.6 ghz easily.Also i could not overlook the importance of future games programmed to use all the 4 cores.

But then something else caught my attention.The release of AMD bulldozer.According to the reports they will replace the phenom II X4 cpus.So i dont want to purchase a phenom II X4 and be left with a previous generation cpu only after a month of its purchase.
So, to sum it up.......
*I don't want to purchase an i3-2100 because its a dual core cpu.
*I don't want to purchase a Phenom II X4 because after the release of bulldozer it may become obsolete.

Please guys help me choose a good cpu + mobo.
Also guys tell me whether it correct time to build a pc at this time with so much of things happening in cpu segment???

^^but i heard BD's processor price starts from 8.5-9k.but op may expect price drop for current phenoms,but i doubt it is going to replace the phenoms.

BD is not exactly Phenom Replacement. But I think it will make Intel i Core proccys cheaper than making Phenoms cheaper as its all together different ball game.

Sorry for unnecessary bump, but if BD's price starts from 8.5-9K, and if they can perform well, we should be ready to see drastic price drop for Intel's SB processors. Fingers crossed. :))

^^yes thats true but i don't think intel gonna reduce the price by a lot.it may get reduced by around 1k on a 10k processor.

But my point of thinking is, if BD performs well in market, Intel's instant market share will go down. Although they will launch their new E series processors, but they will be forced to do one of the following two things with SB processors: either phase them out or reduce the price to get some sort of attraction for a prolonged period of time.

@ OP - the launch price of BD cpus would be around 8-9k and 990FX mobos cost around 9k at-least - so no way you can get a true BD combo under 10-11k for the time being but later when 970 mobo and lower priced BD cpus will hit the market you might be able to get BD combo around 10-11k but for that you will have to wait 2-3 months more ;-)

@d6bmg,
they are still about 40% of the people in the world who doesn't know anything next to Intel processors.they only prefer Intel one no matter how AMD's processor performs and their price is.Intel know this thing very well.in my city only people refuse to take AMD second hand processors and sellers always insist to buy Intel ones saying their processor are better.they tell Intel core 2 duo beats AMD phenom quad cores!.

@op,
if you are not in hurry and you can wait for 4 months then i suggest you to wait for BD.
