Hello,
I am having a strange video card problem. It seems that whenever I reboot Windows I have to reinstall my video drivers for my EVGA 6800GT video card. I am using the latest Nvidia Drivers. The problem started about a month ago after playing a game. The game hung and I could not get back to windows. I hard rebooted and the system did not bring up my video card. It didn't even recognize it. I reinstalled my drivers and everything was peachy.
The next day I started my computer and once again had to reinstall my video drivers. From there on whenever I reboot my computer about 80% of the time I have to reinstall them. I am concerned that it may be that my 3 year old video card is failing but I never seem to have any issues when running Linux. Granted I don't play any 3D games on linux.
My system seems to lock up when playing 3d games in Windows but usually not for a couple hours or more. My system seems pretty stable as long as I don't use any apps that require hw acceleration. I can play games through dosbox & crew for hours without any issues.
I am leaning towards it being a failing vid card but my experience suggests they usually go in one or two goes rather than fail slowly. Also, I really don't want to buy a new video card unless I am sure that is the problem.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!!!
Steve A.
[EDIT: Sorry about not seeing the video card sticky before I posted!]
