Standalone Oracle 8i corrupts after restarting XP

Standalone Oracle 8i corrupts after restarting XP in all the systems in our network. After successful installation its working fine with scott/tiger. But after restart of the machine when scott/tiger is given its saying "oracle not found". Help.

It seems the service of Oracle gets turned off when machine is restarted, or it's not able to start with the machine boot.
Make sure you can see the service of Oracle in Task Manager, or try to launch it manually, through, Run -> services.msc.

I think I have to set the oracle "HOME" path somewhere. Can someone guide me in this regard?

What exactly you mean by "Starting" state. A state is either, Running or Stopped.

its not 'started' nor 'stopped', its 'starting'! and all the options like stop,start....are disabled.
