Both are inadequate by themselves to prevent all possible spyware. I suggest you use both and if possible MS Antispyware and Spyware Blaster too.

I have been doing exactly as drvarunmehta suggested, for a very long time.
Spybot, Ad Aware, MS Antispyware (now MS Defender) and Spywareblaster, of course along with AVG Free and for at least 2 years never had any problem.
But as is often said in the forum, judicious selection of sites you visit and care in opening mails is very important.

well first of all install zonealarm.......this could do wonders...
by advice install zonealarm in new installation of Xp and then install spybot and adware Pro.......
this combe has worked me nice ......
try ... try try....until u get the combo right....
for broad users..... dont even think of switching on ur braodband without a good firewall like ZONEALARM.....!!!1
