DivX today announced that the company will deliver DivX video technology to Sony's PlayStation 3. To date, over 100 million DivX Certified products have been shipped into the market, and the company expects this number to rise significantly with the new PS3 addition.

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience that includes reliable video playback and excellent visual quality. DivX is currently working to certify the PlayStation 3.

Current PS3 end users will be able to add DivX functionality to their system via a separate system software update at a forthcoming date. PS3 game title developers will be able to utilize DivX's decoder technology by updating the system software of PS3's SDK to version 2.00, which was released by Sony on November 2.

It's not really something that they can help with because of the bad import policies India has. CVD duty is the problem, else it will sell at the same price like everywhere else in the world which is less than 20K ;)
