sony dvd writer help

i have sony dvd writer. i have purchased if just 2 months ago. but now when i do copy any dvd its take very long time. writing speed is also very slow. and it do not write cd more then 32x.

whenever i start nero it shows tht ur device is not in dma (direct memory acess mode)
i enable dma mode but it cant applied.
whenever i use nero it shows same eror again.

please help me
i have win xpsp2.
pentium d processor with intel 865 and 512 mb ram.

remove ur rom..try changing cable..reconnect...enable DMA
Uninstall nero and re install it

BTW whic nero version r u using??

This a problem with most of the DVD drives. Uninstall any themes if u have installed some. Because, they often tend to interfere with the drive. Now replace your DVD drive cable with a Cable similar to one which connects your Hard disk. This should solve the problem.
If not, the best option what I do is to install XP again, and voila!, the problem is solved...and don't arise again for another 4-5 months
