Somebody help me

I am facing a problem with internet pop ups. As soon as i start my net connection this sites just open up eg. online casinos, loan sites etc. I scanned my system with spyware doctor, spybot, ad-aware but they also could not find any problem. Please provide me with a solution.

the best solution is somply format the c drive and load windows again ! and make sure next time u dont accpet the adwares acceptance button while surfing un secure sites.... well after installtion u also install the anti spywares and anti adwares etc ...

Top Tip:: After u format n reinstall ur os ...... and u are using SpyBot - use the "immunize" option to shield ur pc from threats also activate Browser helper and select "enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in ie" block pages silently. :!:

Download HijackThis and unzip it to dedicated folder (like C:\HijackThisFolder\hijackthis.exe). Run it and click the button Do a System scan and save log file. HijackThis will perform a scan and saves the log file copy the entire contents of the file and post it here.

Also, use a toolbar such as Google Toolbar which has built-in pop-up blocker and check whether it blocks the pop-ups.

Use Firefox or Opera or if you are so bent on using IE, try Maxthon , its a new decent browser. But pls refrain from IE :roll:

Just download AdAware (freeware) and scan ur HDD. Its that simple.

there is nothing any suspecious item from your post.

anyway .. did u tried with clearing from memory.... i had that prob... what i did ... switch of directly, remove the RAM and CMOS battery.. after 5 mins ... all are fine.

Hi troubleshooter,
Looks like Look2Me infection. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

*www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Download CWShredder. Do not run it now.

Next, boot in safe mode.

Run, CWShredder and click "Fix->".

After this, from the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Save this log.

Next, download WebRoot SpySweeper( the trial link is on the right ) and install it. Run it, click "Options" button. Click "Sweep Options" tab, and here select all the Hard Disk Partitions. In the "Where to sweep" option box, select "Sweep all folders on the selected drives". In the "What to sweep" option box, make sure all the items are selected. Then click "Sweep Now" button and click "Start". Remove any bad thing that SpySweeper may find.

After completeing SpySweeper scan, it is essential to restart the PC. After this restart, post back a new HijackThis log and the L2MFix log that you saved earlier.

after doing as u said swatkat there have not been a single pop up and i yhink i have got rid of the problem. thanx each and every one of you who helped me. You people were of great help otherwise i had to format the hdd and reinstall xp. thanx once again guys n gals

Go to File Menu (in NotePad) > Save AS and type the filename as test.BAT.

Boot the PC in Safe Mode. Double-click on the Test.BAT file. A DOS type window should open and close by itself.

Now, run L2MFix.bat again. Select the option 2 by typing 2 and pressing Enter key. Then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of this log and post it here along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Note:- If L2MFix doesnt give you the log automatically (as mentioned above), then double-click on the file called second.bat which is present the same folder where l2mfix.bat present. This will give you the second log, post it here along with a new HijackThis log.
