I have a strange problem now. My brother took away the Altec Lansing speakers so i bought myself a creative inspire 4.1 and a Techcom 6.1 sound card ( Based on FM801 PCI WDM ). I connected my spekers and installed the drivers provided.
Now the problem begins.Whenever i play a mp3 in winamp or in real player it skips whereas if the same mp3 is played on Windows media player then it plays normally.I also have Microsoft Longhorn XP alpha version build 4015 installed.Mp3s in Longhorn play out as the are supposed to without skipping, both in Winamp as well as real player.I don't know what the problem is.

I'm using :- Windows Media Player 10.00.00.3646
Winamp Version 5.08e
Real Player Version 10.5
In case of Longhorn :- I'm using Windows Media Player 9 and rest all are the same.

For Winamp in both the cases i'm using DirectSound output 2.2.11 as the output plugin and the options selected for both XP as well as Longhorn are same.

Any ideas.... :?:
Thanks in advance.

Try these. Reinstall DirectX. Get it here. If this does not solve your problem, reinstall your Audio Drivers. And, does the audio skip even of you change the output plugin to "WaveOut" in WinAmp?

Press Ctrl+K in Winamp and then goto "Output" under plugins...

Delect the direct sound plugin and press configure ...

Now goto buffering tab and increase all the buffers to around 2000 ms...

If this doesn't work then try the waveout plugin from the list.....

Increasing the buffer size is not solving the problem and not even the wave out plugin.I still haven't tried reinstalling DirectX.As soon as i do that i'll post wether the problem is solved or not.
Thanks
