Ans:yes, 21 inch and 1920 X 1080 Resolution minimum.......... or u can suggest for best performance

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Most of the applications you have mentioned are very much CPU intensive in nature, specially geoslope and Abaqus. You need a powerful Processor, pretty good amount of Ram for it.

Here is my suggesion:

Intel Core i7 4770 @ 19K
Gigabyte H87M-D3H @ 7.2K
G-Skill RipjawX F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL 8GB X 2 1600 MHz DDR3 @ 8.6K
WD Caviar Blue 1 TB SATA 6 Gbps HDD @ 4.1K
Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD @ 6.2K
Corsair Carbide 400R @ 4.6K
Dell S2240L 21.5" 1080P IPS LED Display @ 8.5K
Seasonic SS12II 620W @ 5.4K
Zotac GTX 650 Ti @ 10k
Logitech Mk200 Keyboard & Mouse @ 0.8K
Asus 24X SATA DVD R/W @ 1K

Total: 75.8K. Suggested a Graphics card because Abaqus support GPU acceleration through CUDA and so 3DsMAx.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 500R's price has increased to ~5.4k.

But cilus suggested 400r dude ;)

>for graphic card GTX 660 is good for OP as he can extend upt 80k...
>add Cpu cooler CM hyper evo if you are goint to use your pc for Looong time
>get Logitech K200 keyboard + Lenovo M6811 mice
>OP can opt for cheaper cabinet NZXT source elite 210 - 2.9k

else +1 for cilus' suggested rig

Buddy, he is not getting a gaming system, so no point of getting a gaming mouse or GTX 660. Among all the applications OP has mentioned, most of them use CUDA based GPU acceleration for computing. Only 3dsMax requires renderring power of a powerful GPU. So GTX 650 Ti Boost is good enough.

I have used both M6811 and M200.
suggested M6811 because it helps too much in autocad, editing apps due to 1600DPI(laser) whereas The M200 which is included in MK200 combo has 1000DPi (optical), the design is also much better then M200, M6811 gives better grip plus 2 EXTRA buttons usefull many time even while not gaming.
Price difference is not too much ;) FK sells it for 700 and K200 is locally available ~ 400
