Should I buy Spice MI 280?

Hey guys

am planning to buy a new phone, budget is appx 5500. Had zeroed in on the Spice MI 280, on paper it seems pretty awesome (the specs are comparable to Samsung galaxy pop + gingerbread). However most of the shopkeepers are pretty negative about spice. I guess the alternate would be a samsung champ duos or something. Please give some suggestions on spice

1) long term performance, people say that it's battery life drops drastically within a year
2) service centers - can they fix stuff

Don't buy it. If you buy it, then you will regret your decision and will start hating Android because of the poor experience. If you want an Android, Galaxy Y is the cheapest one you should go for.

avoid. avoid. avoid. small screen will ruin everything. if anything is left, a 4-5hr battery life will take that away too. save more & invest in something solid. not desi craps.

Thanks Sam and Osthe ....I guess I'll go for the Samsung Champ duos then. Will wait a bit to get my first android :) ....

BTW has anyone used this phone? I got a chance to check it out in the store today and the touch is pretty good, no lag, capacitive touch. Not sure about the battery though, I guess with wifi off and stuff I could push it to last a day. Are there any long term problems with spice that you know of ?

My friend owns champ duos and he is more than happy with its battery life. He doesnt uses wifi and has a single sim in use.

Go and grab it, if you are a music lover. Champ 3G is also available for around 4.3k. Consider it also.

Got the champ, meanwhile one of my brothers got the Spice MI 280. Here's what I found out about the MI 280....will write a complete review of the champ later

Pros:
-the touch screen is pretty responsive, acts up at times but other than that its pretty smooth
-no lagging in the interface
-runs stuff like angry birds, cut the rope and talking tom comfortably (no lag)
-around 90Mb of internal phone space was free, ie there is very less bloatware

Cons
-The screen looks a little washed out, colors not that saturated
-build quality is not all that great

will keep you updated on how it runs, might help others planning to buy this.

The mobile is working fine uptill now, no issues whatsoever. As I wrote in the review above the only thing that struck me was that the touch was a little unresponsive (very slight) and the screen won't show really bright saturated colors. Apart from that it's pretty usable. If you can't increase your budget to around 7.5K (for the galaxy Y) I think this is a good enough phone to take.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
