I installed Linux Mint on my system.
I then went to setup my Nokia 5700 Express Music as a modem for internet.
I followed the steps mentioned here:*www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49242

I got the following error:

You are done brother.. Follow this now

1> Edit your /etc/wvdial.conf

Code:
$ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf

and append this

Code:
[Modem1]
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Baud = 460800
SetVolume = 0
Dial Command = ATDT
Init1 = ATZ
Init3 = ATM0
FlowControl = CRTSCTS
[Dialer USB]
Username = a
Password = a
Phone = *99***1#
Stupid Mode = 1
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Inherits = Modem1
Note: you may need to change username, password and phone as required,

2>Activate :

Code:
$ sudo wvdial USB

For deactivating press Ctrl+C

^I have a query.My default uneditied wvdial.conf looks like this

Code:
[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = USB Modem
Baud = 460800
New PPPD = yes
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
ISDN = 0
; Phone = <Target Phone Number>
; Password = <Your Password>
; Username = <Your Login Name>

So should i delete all these lines & replace with the following code given by you?

Code:
[Modem1]
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Baud = 460800
SetVolume = 0
Dial Command = ATDT
Init1 = ATZ
Init3 = ATM0
FlowControl = CRTSCTS
[Dialer USB]
Username = a
Password = a
Phone = *99***1#
Stupid Mode = 1
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Inherits = Modem1

The username & password is blank.The phone dialer number is *99#.

@Pathiks - I am now rushing to mint to try your method.
BTW the username & password should be left blank,right??
You have mentioned some a & b in the field.

^^
Naah! Username and password should not be kept empty if it doesn't needs a verification by your provider.. that is why 'a' or 'b' or anything ...

And for #5 :
I mentioned it earlier to append and not to delete anything and for the phone replace it by *99#

Dialer Defaults code is used when you are not providing any argument with wvdial

Like you can replace your entire wvdial.conf with
Code:
[Modem1]
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Baud = 460800
SetVolume = 0
Dial Command = ATDT
Init1 = ATZ
Init3 = ATM0
FlowControl = CRTSCTS
[Dialer Defaults]
Username = abcd
Password = efgh
Phone = *99#
Stupid Mode = 1
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Inherits = Modem1

And connect to internet using simply:
Code:
$ sudo wvdial

Will try it today & let you know.

I edited the wvdial.conf & tried connecting.Got the following result:

Here is the wvdial.log :

Editing `/etc/wvdial.conf'.

Scanning your serial ports for a modem.

Sorry, no modem was detected! Is it in use by another program?
Did you configure it properly with setserial?

Please read the FAQ at *open.nit.ca/wiki/?WvDial

If you still have problems, send mail to <wvdial-list@lists.nit.ca>.
