Hi,
I am having a confusion choosing between ST3500418AS and ST3500320AS 500 GB hard drives. Prices are almost similar and here are the stuff i have seen about them:
ST3500320AS:
11 th Gen Hard drives with some firmware issues but seagate released some firmware update - Negative point
32 MB cache - Positive point
5 Years Warranty - Positive point
Sustained data transfer rate of 106 MB/s - Negative point

ST3500418AS:
3 Years warranty
160 MB/s data transfer rate - Positive point
12 th gen hard drives. - Positive point
16 mb cache - Negative point

So i am not sure which hard drive to go with.
Will 32 MB cache make a difference in performance and if it does any idea why seagate has removed the series from 500 GB drives ?
Is the performance of the
ST3500418AS drive worth the 2 year loss of warranty?
Kindly help please...

yes, go with the 7200.12 series of drives . they are free from firmware bugs (atleast till now and i think wud remain that way) other then that the 500 gb is a single platter, and faster then most if not all ..and competes exceptionally well with premium drives that come with a hefty price tag. the difference in cache size is really not an issue.
Is the performance of the ST3500418AS drive worth the 2 year loss of warranty?
YES...
cos its really a stable drive and a vfm atm. .. in any case dont go with that 7200.11 drive.
