Earlier i used to be able to burn CD. DVD's without any problem.
However, recently i ran into a problem.
I have Sony DRU-170C (aka Sony AW-G170A), firmware version 1.61.
It is not a SATA DVD-writer.

Using Vista x64.
While burning a DVD through Nero8, an error arises in burning process, saying ::
SCSI Command Aborted
and the burn would fail.
After that, my DVD writer wouldnt show up in the Device Manager or My Computer. The tray would open, close without any problem though.
I would have to Shut down and start, then the DVD Writer showed..

In my device manager, the DVD Writer shows up as:
Sony DVD RW AW-G170A ATA Device
For now, acc to Nero InfoTool 5::
ATA Channel 0 -> Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Current DMA Mode: UDMA4

I have produced 3-4 coasters already and dont want more.
Kindly help me here..

Legen-wait for it-dary!
I have the same drive. The first thing you can do is open your cabinet and check if the power and data cables are connected properly. The second thing is flash your firmware to the latest 1.74 got from liggydee.cdfreaks.com. And The third thing would be to post this in www.cdfreaks.com forum, they specialize in optical drives, and post this under the NEC/Optiarc forum there. That should help you.
