I have installed UBUNTU on a partition on my laptop, but there is some kind of screen resolution problem, it appears as if the screen is zoomed, I am not able to change resolution. How to fix this?

Go to
System >> preference >> display for changing resolution

Normally font size in ubuntu are larger than windows, and screen appears to be zoomed for displays < 17"

I have seen such problems in laptops with discrete graphics cards like nvidia or ati. you need to download the drivers from the respective websites and install them. I have seen that it increases the performance too

Do you find your native resolution after doing what 6x6 said?

If not, then I'll tell you how to create your own Modeline data using gtf utility and editing the xorg.conf file.

But first try doing what 6x6 has asked you to do. :)
