Go to Tools>Options in Firefox
>Main Tab
>Download section
>"Save files" to.... see the path.
All the files will be saved there.

press ctrl + j in firefox. That should open the download window. You will see the list of completed downloads with open links to the right. If the file opens on clicking on it, you are ok.
Also there is a button on the bottom. "all files downloaded to <button>" click on the button to open the folder. Thats about it, I guess. If it doesn't work, are you sure you have admin rights on the system?

isn't there a bug reporting facility for firefox like in CPAN?

Dude...when the box for saving page opens...U'll get some options like
"Save as complete web page" and "simple HTML"...something like these
there choose "Web Page ,complete " option...after that it'll work properly...

use 'Scrapbook' extenstion of firefox, it will save the page as it is. u can manupulate the contents by deleting which is not required. the saved html file with its images will be stored eachtime in a folder in C drive, application data - mozilla firefox - profile - name of the profile and lastlyin scapbook folder, you can change the default location as it reduces free space by keep on mounting pages..:D
