Running Gaim On Dapper

How to install gaim-2.0.0beta6 On Ubuntu Dapper. And from where to dwonload.
Its beta 6.

Why do you need beta6 only?

you can try rpm from sourceforge. convert it to deb using alien

Perhaps he needs the Network-Manager support with Gaim. You could perhaps try *repository.debuntu.org/. Or compile it yourself.

I downloaded some file named "gaim-2.0.0beta6.tar.gz".
When I ran ./configure after decompressing it, it gave following error msg

Its actually a difficult task to compile gaim! Try the debuntu.org repository mentioned by Possible.. And as for your error, you dont have gcc installed.. Do "sudo apt-get install build-essential" to install the necessary compilers..

For a while I forget about beta6.
How to install gaim any way. i accedently deleted it and want it back.
I wanted to upgrade Gaim 1.5 because it kept crashing. Doing so I deleted.

Deleted it. that's the mistake you made. Why are package managers there for? Sitting and staring at?
Open the package manager and install gaim from it.
