Hello guys,

I want to install RHEL 5 on my laptop which runs on Vista SP1.
So I opted to use Vmware workstation 6 with Vista as host and RHEL 5 as guest OS.

I have already installed Vmware workstation 6 in my laptop. But couldn't understand how to install the guest OS.
Can anyone guide me please? A step-by-step would be too good.

Thanks all.

Anyway , I have managed to install properly.

can anyone tell me how to get CLI interface as Ctrl+Alt+Fn key doesn't take me to CLI.

Thanks all.

select new workstation it will ask for details like hdd space, ram.
accordingly configure or take default values.
Select dvd drive or isos.

Later on power on tht workstation and set boot preference accordingly in vmware bios.
Rest of the things are normal.
To use guest os double click in vmware window.
To use vista click ctrl and Alt simaltaneously

I havent used Vista so things which I mentioned works on xp

I Always Prefer 1080p
This should help you.

1.Open VMware Workstation and click New Virtual Machine.
2.A new Wizard opens
3.Click Next and choose Typical Settings
4.Choose Linux and Red Hat EL 5
5.Choose the destination where you need to store your *.VMX Files and *.NVRAM Files of the Virtual Machine.
6.Use Bridged Networking if you want to access the Internet using the Virtual Machine else use Host-only Networking
7.Mention the partition of the Virtual Hard Disk
8.Click Finish and then close the wizard.

Try this now :
Code:
Ctrl+Alt+Space+F1
Or
Execute this in Terminal/Konsole
Code:
su -
chvt 1
Execute chvt 7 to switch back to Graphical Interface. chvt means change virtual terminal and it requires root privileges.

* As I have mentioned earlier, I have never used Vmware. One of my friend suggested me above two methods.
