RFC PC Config [760x2 or 290X]

Right off the assembly line
Me and my friend have decided to both buy a gaming machine and these are the configurations we have narrowed down on (also mentioning the cost, since our budget is capped at 1 lakh):

Processor: AMD FX 8350 - 12,000/-
Motherboard: MSI 990FXA - 9000/-
SMPS: 600W (850W in case of 2 GTX 760s) - 4,000/- / 6,000/-
Graphics card: 2 x GTX 760 / R9 290X - 42,000/- / 43,000/-
Cabinet: Preference - 6000/-
Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor - Already owned
Memory: 2 x 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 - 13,000/-
HDD: 256GB SSD + 500GB 7200RPM - 12,000/-

Current total: 1,01,000/- (high cap). Do you guys suggest any tweaks to this config? What would you suggest: 2 760GTX in SLI or a 290X? I am still open to going the intel way, but that would mean having to compromise on the graphics card because the budget limit is a hard limit, we absolutely cannot stretch beyond this.

The questionnaire, as required:

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Gaming. Dota 2, Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs. Should be able to play the latest games at high (not ultra) settings for at least a year from now (I think I can do with switching off AA sometimes).

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 1.0L

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 8, Arch Linux

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB, not all of it needs to be SSD. Preferably 256GB of fast storage and 750GB of slow storage is fine.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Just the monitor.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within a week or two.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Bangalore. Yes, will be buying locally. Do not prefer online shops for this.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I already have a config in mind for which I need input, which I have posted above.

Thank you all in advance!

You should fill the questionnaire first.
I would say get a 1440p 27 inch monitor along with 290x.
Welcome:-D

fill the questionnaire.
guessing by your post, i'd say go with this -

Intel Xeon E3-1245 V3 ~ 19k
Gigabyte H87-D3H ~ 8k
Seasonic 620W ~ 6k
Corsair 300R ~ 4.5k
WD Black 1 TB ~ 5.5k
HyperXBlu 2x4GB (16GB isnt necessary and you can overclock this to 1866MHz) ~ 5.5k
GTX 780Ti ~ 55k

Get SSD later as it isnt a necessity.

Filled as asked :D
And thanks for the input. I think 290X seems to be the popular choice over here. P.S. I've already got a monitor.

Two questions come to mind:

1. Is Xeon really better than the AMD FX? I have never heard it being mentioned for gaming, ever.
2. I am a bit skeptical about the RAM though. Won't most games running at high settings need that memory?

1.Xeon is like 4770 with hyper threading so if in future games need more than 4 cores then Xeon is a cheaper alternative to 4770.
2.Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz is perfectly suitable to games and you don't need to go for 2400Mhz as there will be negligible difference between the two_Ok.

Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 (17700)
MSI Z97 PC Mate (9000)
G.Skill RipjawsX or Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz 4 GB x2 (6200)
WD Blue 1 TB (3500)
Samsung 840 Evo 120 GB SSD (6000)
Seasonic S12II 620 (5700)
Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x (32000)
Corsair 400R (5300)
CM Devastator combo (2800)

total: 88,200

The xeon is basically an i7 without HT and an igpu.

BTW, the R9 290x peforms similar to a titan and is cheaper. Draws slightly more power though.
And no 8gb is enough memory for now. Most games don't use more than 4~4.5 gb. You can always expand later.
