can anybody tell me something about MBR in linux.
actually i am new in this field(linux).

can anybody tell me the what type of partition are avialable in linux.
what is the procedure of installation of linux.....

MBR is not for Linux. it is for all operating systems. the MBR (Master Boot Record) contains informations to boot up the computer. the bootstrap program transfers control to the MBR and the MBR decides where to boot from.

when installing Linux, it will write to the MBR (ofcourse if u allow) and when booting the LILO/GRUB takes control and u can select an operating system (Dual Boot).

The files systems used are Ext2, Ext3, Reiser FS, Linux SWAP (for swap files) etc.
