Recover windows XP password.

Hi guys,
I've been using linux for about 6 months and in this time I never booted into windows XP. The problem is that I've got some very important CDs that support only windows and mac. I tried using wine but my computer starts crawling if I use it. So is there any way in which I can recover my old password so that I can change it for good.

When u boot into xp press F8 n get into the safemode option.
Now here win will not ask u for a login.get into control panel n create a new user for urself with admin privileges.
now reboot normally into xp and use the new login...n well delete the old user if u want from the users.cpl in control panel.

Its soooo dumb that its so easy to break into the system but well thats windows.
