Hi

I would like to know from people who have used Tv Tuners, what kind of picture quality can be expected. What are the factors it is dependent on. I have installed one on my desktop(Hauppauge WinTv USB2 Stick)) and the pic. quality is very poor....

Thanks

I am a non-IT guy but AFAIK, it depends on ur card quality and also on cable TV signal quality/ The traditional cable TV signal which you get from your cable operator is poor and so output too is poor. If you feed some digital signal(like Tatasky, DishTv or set-top-box) then you can get better quality.

I have a intex entry level internal tv tuner card with FM radio. I have used it back when I was using cable TV and now when I am using set-top-box. I hardly use it now though.

I have used few of them
You cannot get a Picture Quality as like a Television Set until you invest 3 to 4k bucks on it

The cheapest you can get is External which come for Rs. 1000 but is useless
since the Picture Quality is not much good (i.e. 640 x 480)

As per my experience for good Picture Quality you must buy an Internal One with Picture Quality of 800 x 600 or (1280 x 800 recommended) a Pinnacle One which come for 3.4K

External is only Good when U have Only extra Monitor without CPU otherwise Interal is Best

I have used Compro Videomate internal one.. (price forgot!!)

The main problem is with the signal which you are getting.. If the signal is poor you can't do anything with your card..

In my case : The picture was fine when signal was good. (when best it was awsome!!). In all it was good for watching on PC.. but only problem was with the moving sentences(Which appear at the bottom of any news channel). They were almost impossible to be read!! I suggest everyone to atleast try out your choice before buying..

The Revolutionary
I have been using local brand costs 1.5K the picture quality is decent at vcd resolution, you can expect more at that price, but if you want good picture quality and recording quality you must spend much more the leadrek, or pinnacle 2.5K or above will help you, and the cable signal must be good enough to use it efficiently.
