re-installing xp...?

hey i have planned to re-install xp in my comp. but the problem is i have to install all other softwares i have installed already. some of which i don have installers.


is there anyway i can re- install xp without having to install all softwares again.
i heard from my frnd tat backing up current registry and restoring it after fresh xp installation cud help.

No, you can't reinstall (Which here means to format the existing drive and to reload the OS on top of it) and keep the applications as it is. You'll need the setups again.

For the files on any other drive than the root one, the registry back up method may work but its very very dirty and messy to do that.

Best solution would be to acquire setups or to go for Repair install type instead. Repair replaces all system files back to CD version.

Better repair XP.
Else if you have some problem with system files. Do this:
start-->> run -->> type sfc /scannow -->> Ok

Insert windows XP CD when asked.

thanx dude for ur response... is there anyway i can get setups from installed softwares... i mean reverse way... or atleast to create portable apps from normal setups

hey can u plz explain this "acronis true image home version" and wat does it do
