RAM upgrade for Lenovo S205

Dear All,

I have a Lenovo S205 net book. This is the configuration that I have:

Processor: AMD E-350 1.6 GHz ( Dual-Core )
Memory: 3.0 GB (1333mhz) (2+1)
Hard Drive: 320.0 GB - Serial ATA-300 - 5400.0 rpm
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition
Graphics Processor: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6310

To be frank, I found my net book to be very slow. The Window Exp Index (WEI) was very low at 3.5.
This was very frustrating for me. Then I planned to have Linux Mint 14 (64 Bit) on it. The performance was indeed very good, but I had some issue with the dual boot. Then I removed WIN 7 completely. Currently I run only Linux Mint 14 (64 bit).

My question is:
1. Can I upgrade my RAM to 8GB (4X2)?
2. Will the 8GB RAM upgrade improve the WIN 7 performance?
3. Will the 8GB RAM upgrade improve the Linux Mint performance?

Please help. Thanks

Help please

To know if you can upgrade to 8GB RAM you will have to contact Lenovo's CC.
The upgraded RAM would definitely improve the performance of Win7 to some extent. Cant say about Linux, but it should improve too

I did looked onto the Lenovo's support forum and understood that I can upgrade to 8GB. My question mainly is, will this upgrade bring performance improvement?

I was actually struggling with Win7 on this laptop. If this upgrade helps, then I will go ahead and do it

3GB is more than enough for a netbook.

Problem can be because of Windows Home Premium's Aero. Install Tuneup Utilities and let is tone down the graphics a bit (it'll give you options once you create profile, just apply)
