RAM - CPU (nehalem 45nm)

So i have core i7-920 45nm CPU and i recently just upgraded my RAM to 24 GB @1600 MHz.I am using Asus P6T deluxe v2 motherboard.

Now, the problem is i recently checked on intel site

Intel® Core? i7-920 Processor (8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel® QPI))

that the memory type supported by it is 800/1066 Mhz ie even if i buy 1600 Mhz i will not get that speed...for the time being i went to BIOS and upgraded it manually to 1600 Mhz from Auto mode.

So, can anyone enlighten me on this?

Thanks in advance.

Op's mobo supports Ram speed upto 1333Mhz natively - anything beyond that requires OC to run the mem modules at rated speed :

6 x DIMM, 24 GB, DDR3 1600*/2000(O.C.)*/1866(O.C.)*/1800(O.C.)*/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

Then my only solution is OC.(ie Manually change the speed from 'AUTO' to '1600 Mhz')

So for OCing RAM what i need to keep in mind?
