No, there have been updates. Check your /etc/apt/sources.list file to see if the updates repository is selected. Or alternatively you can check it under repositories menu in Synaptic.

Just check the Update Tab under Repositories in Synaptic and select important and recommended options and reload Synaptic and it will update.
