Query about APC UPS BR-600Ci-IN

Hi mates, I have a APC BR600-CI IN UPS purchased about 1.5 years ago, suddenly UPS doesnt give backup at all, I tried to charge the battery for 10 Hrs (by keeping the UPS in OFF mode, only Main Power is outlet ON) but still no result. So I contacted APC tech support and the guy told me that we should always keep the Power outlet in ON even when UPS is OFF, this will ensure proper battery charging and extend battery life,. Also he told me to press Reset button for 20 seconds and then recharge the UPS for 10 hours and check the result.
It is the correct procedure to always keep power outlet ON even when UPS is OFF?
Need your advice on this

not a newbie.....
Might be that battery needs to be replaced. If its 1.5 years old and you face a lot of powercuts then I recommend changing the battery.

As for your question regarding keeping it on, yeah. I have a APC ups too and based on some readings that I did, it does charge the battery when plugged even if it is switched off.
