i have hp pavilion win xp home with p4 ht and when try to ,logg off or shut down or restart it doesnot take any actions i have to directly RESET my computer
please help me

Have you tried reloading Windows?

when u press shutdown .. does a program called logonui.exe start?
may some program is delaying the shutdown ...
just for once press shutdown and leave the comp for say 15-20mins
see if its actually not working or simply being delayed for some reason
