Today I installed windows xp on my pc and after sometime I found that when I try to open any folder by double clicking on it mouse sort of gets hanged for one second and also if I try to right click on any unselected file or folder as long as the right click menu is on the mouse speed is greately reduced, just live playing a game with very low fps. The speed reduction does not happens if the file or folder is previously selected.
Please help me guys this two things are killing me.

H/W
Processor : P4 2.8Ghz x64
Motherboard : Intel D101GGC (with onboard Gfx card 256Mb)
RAM : 768 + 256 (System + Gfx = 1Gb)

S/W
OS : Windows XP x32
Antivirus : Kaspersky IS, AVG Free ver.
And the usual softwares.
Resolution : 1024 x 786

Before formating the PC I was having same H/W and the same S/W without any problem. So its nothing to do with 2 antivirus.
But when I have used same H/W and S/W previously then why the problem occured now and not before.

And yes I have BSNL's Home 500 plan so my PC stays ON all the night.
Please help me guys this two things are killing me.

As soon as you restart the computer keep hitting the F8 key select safe mode from Windows advanced options. Select administrator on the login screen. if the problem still persists in safe mode. then try clean boot. Start-Run -Msconfig-Selective startup - Unchecked - Load startup items- Services TAB- Check - Hide all MS services-Disable all. Restart the computer. If u still get the same problem then try to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and look for CPU usage if it hangs in between 90-100 it means there is some problem with SVChost service... Do this and let me know what happens...!!!! Good Luck!

Thanx for the reply Speedrider_100. Today I formated my PC and reinstalled windows xp.While I was installing the softwares I kept an eye on the slowing process and I found that all this problem is caused by installing Internet Explorer 7. So I uninstalled it. But no change. As it was getting close to net time I am going to format my PC tomorrow and will not install IE7 and will watch the speed. If every thing is OK I will reply tomorrow.
Again thanx for the reply.

Antivirus : Kaspersky IS, AVG Free ver.
That could be the 1st source of the problem, 2 anti virus are never recommended in 1 comp, on top of that your problem could be that u may have enabled file access time scanning & when ever u try to access a folder they both might be jumping to scan & hanging it....................slowing down the comp.

Thanx for the concern. But 2 antivirues on one PC is not a big deal, if you know which to use.

And about my problem that was caused by TuneUp Utilities 2007.
In TuneUp Utilities 2007 there is TuneUp SystemControl. In that Start and Maintenance under the Desktop and Taskbar there is a option to execute the Desktop and Taskbar in separate process to incerease the stability of the sytem. I used that option which caused the problem.

So the problem was not cause by viruses, antiviruses. It was just because I wanted to give system some stability cause the problem.
But thanx guys for your concerns.
